1/100 is just another way of saying 1%. I wanted to bring my 1percent.wordpress.com blog onto my own server, and since 1percent.com and onepercent.com are taken, I had to find another way of expressing the equation. 1/100, or one-onehundredth is one over one hundred, or 1 over 100. I tried many different comginations, including pointzeroone.com (taken) and zeropointzeroone.com (also taken). I then broke down and purchased 1percentinspiration.com (which re-directs here) but it’s long, cumbersome, and sounds really stupid, frankly. 1over100.com is the new, untethered 1percent.wordpress.com. And by untethered, I mean I can now serve ads, customize the CSS, and use php and java based widgets.

Now here’s the philosophy behind 1%, or 1/100:

There are members of the Hell’s Angels who have “1%” tattooed on their skin. This is a response to the claim that ninety-nine percent of bikers in North America are law-abiding citizens. Thomas Edison boasted that genius was ninety-nine percent perspiration and the rest was inspiration. It is well documented that ninety-nine out of one hundred web-pages are crap. Whoever wants to be a sweatless bad-boy online biker genius, raise their hand.
