Waffle Writer
If this was for sale, I would buy three. I love old typewriters. I also love waffles. I just imagine this might be a bit difficult to clean…

Check out Chris Dimino’s typewriter waffle iron.

Artist Creates KICK-ASS Personal Annual Report

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

Feltron is my new personal hero. Not only is he a brilliant designer, but he is insane in the best possible obsessive-compulsive way. He has meticulously recorded, documented, and designed a beautiful annual report on his life in 2006. It includes air miles traveled, restaurants eaten at, types of beers drank, number of iTunes tracks played, breakdowns of movie genres watched, and much much more. And I thought I was crazy to carry around a set of Mundane LifeFocus™ Cards to keep track of my daily routines.

Pulp Fiction in Glorious Animated Typography

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

Kudos to Mark from 15posts for finding this beautiful work of animated typography. I watch this and I just want to eat it, it looks so good. I could almost watch a whole movie like this. Maybe. (Don’t you love how the little “Play” button from YouTube actually censors the frame?) It comes from the mad skills of Jarratt Moody. Say What Again.

Smashing Free Fonts

Friday, February 9th, 2007

Smashing magazine puts together a list of 19 (21 actually) free fonts for download. Usually when you think of free fonts, it’s those shitty dirty deconstructed grunge knock-offs from the 90s. Or it’s another ‘hand writing’ font that’s missing most of the special characters. Well, not this list. These are premium fonts at a free-er than free price. $0.00. Go get ‘em!
Computer Modern Unicode Serif

And while you’re on their blog, check out the amazing aggregate of web and design articles… stunning. Everything from the best Fonts of 2006, to Wordpress Themes, CSS, Ajax, Design, Websites, Resources… honestly I don’t know how they can keep up with themselves. It’s going to take me a few years to wade through all their content.
