Dramatic Lemur continues the meme of animal close-ups accompanied by a familiar, short and of course ‘dramatic’ musical score. Dramatic Chipmunk has exceeded 5 million hits on YouTube. Will the Lemur catch up? Or is this ‘just a fad’? You decide.
I’ve blogged about Nicholas Felton before, but he continues to outdo himself. He has recently redesigned his website, and released The 2007 Feltron Annual Report which meticulously details all aspects of his personal and professional life. I’m not sure how he has any time to interact with people, what with the furious note-taking he must undertake to capture where he has been, what he has listened to, what he has seen, what type of food he is eating, etc. Here are a few samples:I love the typography, the detail, the statistics, the idea. And I love the ingenuity of offering a print edition, which means I can support the Nicholas’ work and have something beautiful and strange for the coffee table. Buy it here.
When I hit “Publish” on my blog editor something interesting happens. Well, lots of things happen actually and Matthew Hurst, an artificial intelligence researcher who studies this ecosystem at Microsoft Live Labs, has mapped the process in a sexy little chart. Here’s how the whole process goes down during “the big game”.While some of this is fairly obvious if you sat down and thought about it, it’s still pretty interesting to look at. And the cool Flash chart is a great design. Make sure you check out the dataminer’s website as well.Link (via Wired)

Phenomenology designer Frank Shepard Fairey of ObeyGiant.com has created a wonderful propaganda-inspired poster in support of Barack Obama. Then Ed Alkema of PENTDAGO.com created an interactive version where you write your own Obama slogan. I can see kids on all ends of the political spectrum having fun with this.
Nothing says surreal more than a Frank comic drawn by Jim Woodring (see A Quick Art Culture Catch Up), except perhaps a DVD devoted to animating Frank’s strange and dark world.
VISIONS OF FRANK collects 8 wild Frank animations made by some of Japan’s most innovative and idiosyncratic filmmakers: Taruto Fuyama, Eri Yoshimura, art unit COCOA,DROP INC., Masaki Naito,Kanako Kawaguchi, Naomi Nagata. Each piece is an interpretation of a classic Frank comic and is scored by musicians from Japan and the USA.
Lithoglyph software has created a very cool plugin for Macintosh Leopard (OS X 10.5) users called Mondrianum which pulls in swatches from Adobes colour community Kuler and displays them in the system-wide colour picker. Now you have access to a richer colour palette from inside your favourite Apple applications. Very kule.

Robert Scoble, in a meta moment on Qik, records “sort of” rockstar Bono recording himself on YouTube. Bono talks about fighting extreme poverty and climate change for the Davos Conversation, then quotes Thomas Friedman (The World Is Flat) by saying “Don’t change light bulbs, change your leaders.”Bono on YouTube (see Scoble top left)
